All you need to know before you schedule a lesson
-
Are your rates negotiable?Yes. Some students prefer different length lessons. 90 mins : £45/hr 75 mins: £40/hr 60 mins : £35/hr 45 mins: £30/hr 30 mins: £20/hr I also offer the deal of five 60 minute lessons for £150.
-
How does payment work?Bacs payments will be used after booking a lesson. Each lesson needs to be paid before the lesson starting time, otherwise I'm afraid that I will not be able to fulfil the lesson.
-
How many lessons have you taught?I have taught Spanish and French online for over 900 hours. Many of these hours are made up of students who I teach weekly/biweekly. I mainly used the Tutoring Website MyTutor to carry out these lessons, alongside privately managing lessons through my website. You can access my MyTutor account here: https://www.mytutor.co.uk/tutors/499073/
-
Do you personalise the lessons?Yes! Before booking a lesson I will contact you about which specific aspect of the language you would like to focus on. Then, I will tailor the lesson to the student's needs using my database of language resources.
-
Do you teach adult learners?Of course! Contact me for more details.
-
Are the lessons online?Currently I carry out the lessons online using the interactive whiteboard application Miro.
-
What materials do you use?I currently have a database of home-made materials, as well as various worksheets purchased from other teachers. I have a great variety to choose from (1000+), depending on the level of the student's needs. If you wish to see some examples of 'home-made materials', please take a look at my TES shop: https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/dorywaterside After each lesson, I send over the materials used, as well as other worksheets for homework.
-
Do you offer homework? After each lesson, I also send over a range of documents so that my students can independently consolidate their knowledge. I'm always very happy to mark this extra work for no added fee.
-
What if I (parent) am not happy with the quality of teaching? After teaching more than 900 lessons over the last three years, I have perfected my tutoring skills to ensure the happiness of both the parents and students. However, after the first (trial) lesson, if it is mutually felt that I am not best suited for tutoring French/Spanish to the student, I will give a full refund. Furthermore, after each lesson, I send a full report to the parents so that they can keep up-to-date with the teaching. Within this report, I outline: - What was covered during the lesson - How the student performed well - Points to focus on in the next lesson - Plan for the next lesson
